If you are Staying in Lynton or Lynmouth its a good idea to get a taxi up Countisbury hill to make this your starting point, go into the Blue Ball have a couple of beers and a bite to eat and get yourself ready for a lovely day exploring Exmoor.

Leave The Blue Ball Inn and walk down the road, after the last inhabited building in Countisbury on your left, take the wooden gate off road and follow the signs over the common ground towards watersmeet, you will walk through tranquil but rugged woodland down into the scenic Watersmeet valley, there are a variety of paths to choose from but our map shows the most direct.


Once at The Watersmeet Tea garden, cross over the bridge and head upwards towards the Iron Aged fought, after the first upward haul you will cross over the road as shown on the interactive map and climb the footpath until you reach the fought, from here climb the steps and walk along the cleaves towards The Cottage Inn in Lynbridge.

Be Sure to enjoy the final sea view over Lynmouth from Summerhouse hill view point ( Bench just off the path ) before heading on the tranquil woodland walk dropping gradually in height into the Lynbridge Valley.


When you reach water level you will see the bridge crossing into The Cottage Inn Car Park, Once here you can enjoy some Local beers in the garden or why not time your walk by ending with a meal in the pub.

To Get back to Lynton and Lynmouth from The Cottage Inn take The Lynway woodland path, a scenic woodland walk which takes 7 - 10 minutes.
